Another of my most Noble Ukrainian Moments was in Kiev. After I left Mykolaev and moved to Kiev. I recall going to a farmers market, just below my apartment. To get some vegetables. I reached in my pocket and was surprised I didn’t have enough cash to pay. So I told the very kind Matron that I hadn’t money. As I got ready to put things back, she said no no, don’t worry about it. I give to you as gift. I was shocked and embarrassed. But not with to much pride where I would be foolish and refuse her gift. So I accepted and thanked her. I was thinking only in My Beloved Ukraine would I see such an amazing act of kindness. Days later I returned and gave her extra money. Then I asked her to give the extra money to others as she had shared with this Black American. Thank you Ukraine…
